There’s a new number 47 in Foxboro, and he has a very familiar last name.
Having played #48 at Kansas St., Glenn Gronkowski has been given #47 on the Patriots practice squad.
Goose was signed to by the Pats on Oct. 1, and the Gronkowski family couldn’t be happier to have him with big brother Rob in New England.
We’d rather he got #69, but that was already taken by OL Shaq Mason. In fact one fan (who will remain nameless) has already made a Glenn 69 jersey in his honor.
Of course, Rob is number 87, and older brother Dan played at 82 in 2011 as a Pats TE.
The 23-year-old rookie fullback out of Kansas State had been signed to the Buffalo but was released on Sept. 12, and what is Rex Ryan’s loss is Bill Belichick’s gain!
At 6-foot-3 and 234-pounds, Glenn — a.k.a. Goose — ran a 4.71-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine with a 7.10-second 3-cone, 4.45-second short shuttle, 10-feet broad jump and 33-inch vertical leap. He bench-pressed 17 reps of 225 pounds.
While with the Wildcats, Baby Gronk named First Team All-Big 12 in 2014, and First Team Academic All-Big 12 from 2013-15.
