Whatever Gronk does, he does it big! And that goes for fundraising for kids in needs, too.
Rob’s Gronk Nation Youth Foundation raised a whopping $110,000 for the Boston Children’s Hospital by raffling off two VIP trips to Houston for Super Bowl LI where two lucky fans got to see the New England Patriots make history.
After the totally hyped celebrations of the historic overtime win subsided, it was time for the important business of delivering the Gronk-sized check to the hospital staff.
Gronk, his dad Gordy and brothers Dan and Gordie Jr. took it there themselves this week and spent a day hanging out with the young patients, which is one of their favorite things to do.
They feasted on ice cream sundaes — and you know Gronk dug into them! — played games, and the kids got signed photos of Rob in his uniform. Dan even brought his little sons with him, who both needed to take naps in the middle of the fun.
Days like this are why Gronk was the Patriots nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award and received the team’s 2016 Ron Burton Community Service Award.
At least he didn’t have to shave his head for charity this time! That’ll happen next summer when it’s a bit warmer outside in New England.
The Gronk Nation Youth Foundation sends huge thanks to raffle sponsors Energi, JetBlue and Boston Private Bank.
