Not only has Gronk rewritten the tight end position by smashing NFL records like they are piñatas and making historical plays every game — he’s also one of the top players in the virtual gaming world.
The “Madden NFL 17” cover star is one of just four players to receive a perfect 99 ranking from the hit video game, and the only offensive player to earn the honor.
Other members of the “99 Club” are J.J. Watt, Von Miller and Luke Kuechly, according to the press release from EA Sports.
Even top Madden QB Aaron Rodgers is ranked lower than Gronk, with a 96 rating, with Tom Brady coming in as the next quarterback with 94.
As for the Patriots, they are the top-ranked team in the AFC an 87 overall rating. And obviously, Gronk is the top-ranked tight end across the league.
Madden ranks players in a number of categories including strength, agility, speed, acceleration, awareness, catching and carrying. But there’s at least one skill that Gronk would like added to the list.
“Trash talk,” he told USA Today in May. “Because there are some players out there that just nonstop trash talk. Imagine having Madden ratings out there. People would start talking more trash to get their Madden rating of trash talk up to like 99.”
