Tom Brady has proved that you can laugh about even the worst of times – once they’re over at least.
So after countless other people have laughed about it, Brady is starring in an ad for Footlocker making fun of Deflategate. And like everything else, he does it better than everyone else.
The premise is two guys walking into a diner marveling how Footlocker just gets better and better over the years. “It kind of makes you wonder what Footlocker is up to,” one says. Cue Brady, arguing that just because something is great it doesn’t mean there’s something shady going on.
“Why can’t some things just be great? It starts with questions, and then questions turn into assumptions, and then assumptions turn into vacations,” he asks the shocked dudes. “So why would you punish the Week of Greatness for something that never even happened?”
Obviously the “vacation” was a Roger Goodell-enforced four week suspension, but lucky for us, Brady came back even better than ever after his mini-break.
The commercial is to promote Footlocker’s Week of Greatness, the hottest week of sneaker releases that’s back starting Nov. 19.
But as the GOAT asks, “why would you punish the Week of Greatness for something that never happened?!?” Yeah, we’d lose our appetite too.
Check out the video below, and yes – it’s OK to laugh about this now.
