Gronk and the Pats Gang Are Back Together for Minicamp: 'I Felt Like I Was Never Gone'

Posted by: Gronkowski

It was business as usual for Gronk and the boys on Tuesday.

Rob, Tom, Jules, Chris and the rest of the gang were back together like old times for the Patriots mandatory minicamp at Gillette Stadium, and it didn’t seem like any of them had a missed a beat.

Newly-bald Gronk – who shaved his head on Sunday for his annual One Mission Buzz Off for Kids With Cancer haircut (we’re not sure how that always seems to be perfectly timed before the Patriots team photo session …) looked happy to be returning to work after a couple of months vacation.

As for how he feels physically? Gronk couldn’t be coming out of the gate hotter!

When asked why he didn’t attend voluntary OTAs a few weeks ago (which Brady skipped too), Rob told reporters: "I wanted to take care of my body, take care of myself and see where I was at before I came out here. I think it was a good decision.

“I was having all different thoughts -- see if I really wanted to go through it again. I feel like I'm just going to do what's best for myself and take care of myself, because if I can't take care of myself, I can't take care of anyone else and help out the team,” he added.

Despite not being out on the field with his teammates with his teammates since Feb. 5 (in that game that will not be mentioned), Gronk said he felt like he was never gone, according to ESPN’s report from minicamp.

"It just felt really good to be back out on the field, and that's what matters most," he said. "I enjoyed it a lot today. I love playing the game of football. The game of football is fun when you're feeling good.

“If you're not feeling good, myself, I've asked many other players, you really don't like the game of football. But if you're feeling good, your body feels good, your mind feels good, the joy of playing the game of football is off the charts. At the same time, if you're not feeling good, it can be awful.

"I just want to be feeling good, keep my mind clear, and keep playing the game and enjoy it.”

Rob went on to share similar sentiments on Instagram ... quoting himself in the third person as Roberto, as usual.

Gronk went out to marvel over how the old man in the group wasn’t showing any signs of slowing down, either.

“Tom looked great," he said. "That guy, I don't think he's ever going to look bad. I mean he's always looking good. He's never tired. His arm strength is always up there so he's looking good."

Tuesday was a pretty good day for everyone in the Patriots organization, especially Robert Kraft, who was celebrating his 77th birthday.

They've got to be putting something in the water in Foxboro, and we're not taking about the TB12 electrolytes Brady is selling ...
