Gronk Pulls Out the Big Guns for Mel Gibson's 'Boss Level'

Gronk has long been the Patriots best offensive weapon on the field, but on Monday someone actually trusted him with a weapon of his own.

While we're pretty damn sure it was a fake minigun brought to life by Hollywood magic, it looked damn impressive when Rob blasted it off for the cameras on the set of his upcoming action flick, "Boss Level."

As we previously told you, the big fella will share the big screen with "End of Watch" and "Zero Dark Thirty" actor Frank Grillo and "Lethal Weapon" legend Mel Gibson. Yep, he's actually going to have screen time with the original Mad Max.

Oscar-nominated actress Naomi Watts will also star, so we're talking serious Hollywood royalty here!

Directed by Joe Carnahan ("The A Team," "Smokin' Aces") from a script written by the Borey Brothers, "Boss Level" also stars Annabelle Wallis and Will Sasso.

The video was shared by Carnahan on Instagram, as Gronk blasted out at least 669 rounds -- wearing basketball shorts, no less. "Bringing the hot-hot HEAT," the director wrote.

The plot for "Boss Level" follows Roy Pulver, a retired special forces veteran who becomes trapped in a never-ending loop that results in his death every day. So like "Groundhog Day" ... but with far more blood and guts. Alice is a dental hygienist who hates teeth but has a huge crush on her patient, Roy. She's also left repeating the same day by his side, usually as assassins try to kill her beloved.

There's no word yet on what role Gronk will play, but he'll definitely be heavily armed.

After he was done with firearms training on the Atlanta, Georgia, set of "Boss Level," Gronk blew off some steam in his usual way -- with a serious cardio workout. This time he dragged sidekick Goon and manager Henry Penzi for a hike up Stone Mountain.

Yep, that's a hell of a view ...
