Gronk’s 2-Point Conversion Catch Seals the Deal in Pittsburgh

Remember when we said Gronk was unstoppable even against the mighty Pittsburgh Steelers? Well the Steel Curtain didn’t look that solid on Sunday with Number 87 back on the field.

Rob boasted the most receiving yards from either team with 168 yards and nine receptions in the 27-24 victory at Heinz Field. He drilled the ball down the field when the Pats were trailing by five points with 2:06 minutes left on the clock, which helped Dion Lewis get a late touchdown.

But it was slick catch for a two-point conversion that really fired up Pats fans freezing their asses off in Pittsburgh. It looked like the wild drive – in which Gronk had receptions of 26, 26 and 17 yards – would be the final nail in the Steelers’ coffin, however the NFL Game of the Year wasn’t gonna end that easily.

As everyone anticipated earlier in the week, the battle for the AFC East came down to the final few seconds. With the Steelers terrifyingly close to the end zone, a pass from Ben Roethlisberger intended for Eli Rogers, was tipped by cornerback Eric Rowe … right into the hands of Patriots safety Duron Harmon for the interception.

And that my friends, is going to go down as one for the ages.

“He just kept getting free. I thought he did a great job of separating, making the catches, giving him some chances on 1-on-1 throws,” Brady said of Gronk after the game. “I’m just really proud of him. That guy fights his ass off every day.

“Football is a crazy game ... You just keep fighting,” TB12 marveled.

“It was a lot of fun,” Gronk said, recalling how he’d gone to high school in Pittsburgh and knows they are Steelers crazy there.

When asked about that final epic drive, he said: “There was two minutes left, I knew we had time to make a drive and do what we’ve gotta do. If the ball is coming to you, you’ve got to make some plays. It just went well, Tom found me and I made a couple of catches.

Gronk, wearing his shiny new AFC East Champions hat, gave some major kudos to Lewis too. “Everyone says how small he is, he’s not that small – he’s a beast. “The emotions were out of control on that last drive, it was like a roller coaster – they were so up and down,” he added. “But the ride ended very well.”
