Gronk's Epic Week Continues as He's Named AFC Offensive Player of the Week

Posted by: Gronkowski

What a week for Robbie G!

After blasting over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, knocking up nine receptions, 168 yards, a valuable two-point conversion catch and an MTV VMA Award-worthy touchdown dance at the sake of Steelers safety Sean Davis – the accolades just keep coming for the big fella.

Gronk was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday for a job well done in Pittsburgh. This marks only the second time he’s been granted the honor, the first occasion being in Week 14 of the 2011 season. It is also the sixth time in 2017 that the Patriots have been honored with a Player of the Week Award.

Last Sunday’s performance behind the Steel Curtain also catapulted Gronk into his fourth 1,000-yard-plus season, joining talented tight ends Tony Gonzalez and Jason Witten.

You know that Rob LOVED the outcome of that game … not just because he on the game-winning touchdown drive, he had three receptions for – wait for it -- 69 yards.

Adding to the accolades, on Tuesday Gronk was one of only two tight ends selected for the 2018 Pro Bowl with the other TE being Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs. This is the fifth time Number 87 has been named an AFC All-Star for the annual game, which is now played in Orlando, Florida, the Sunday before Super Bowl.

On a note of interest to millennials, New Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers, broadcast on CBS, was the most emotionally reacted-to program of the week by social media-tracking company Canvs, with 205,288 Emotional Reactions (ERs). Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was the most mentioned player of the game.
